A Bargain Blog

I usually do not post a blog about my "couponing." However I did really well at Rite Aid this week and thought I would share. Sometimes my Publix trips are too long to post but I may start blogging about my trips to the drug stores. People tell me all the time they can't do it and I am here to tell you that anyone can do it. It does require time and effort but the end result is worth it to me. For example, Thursday I put together a Publix trip list with the help of www.southernsavers.com in about 1 hour (would have taken less time if I had my coupons better organized but I have been sticking them everywhere lately). I spent $86.87 but I saved $118.79. How many of you would do an hour of work to make $118.79? I realize that I don't always save this much but I usually save at least $30 and I would still work for $30 an hour.

My total(including tax) for all of this was $10.84! Based on shopping at Walmart for these items in the past my total would have been around $36.00 + tax! This is how I did it...

1st transaction:

*Jumbo pack of Pampers
$8.99 - $1.00 coupon from 8/29 paper = $7.99 + $2.00 UP reward. An UP reward is a coupon that will print on your receipt. You can use for anything in the store, which is why I do multiple transactions so I can use them the same day.

*Gain dish detergent
$.89 - $1.00 coupon from 8/29 paper = made $.03

* Butt-paste (I hate the name of this stuff but it works wonders for diaper rash)
$3.99 - $2.00 coupon I think I got from a parenting magazine - $3.00 (Rite Aid coupon that I got from watching a video on www.Riteaid.com) = made $2.02 - I bought two & had two sets of coupons

Total for transaction #1 was $7.47 (after taxes).

Transaction #2:

50 oz Tide detergent
$5.99 - $2.00 coupon from Parenting magazine this month - $2.00 UP reward from Pampers purchase = $1.99

Total: $2.53 (after tax) + $1.00 UP reward

Transaction #3:

2 liter coke
$1.69 - $1.00 UP reward = $.69

Total $.84 (after tax)

I hope all of this makes sense. By the way, the video coupons will only let you print one. However I set up an account under Josh's name and am able to print one from each account. It is so much fun saving money and seeing what kind of deals I can get. Now when I have to pay full price for things I have gotten really cheap in the past, it hurts a little!
