Pictures

Here are my two favorite people in the world. Does she look like her daddy? :)

Or does she look like me?

Sitting up like a big girl. She is getting good at sitting up if she can be still long enough to balance. She never sits still for longer than two seconds!

Yesterday Hannah decided she did not want to take a nap. She fought sleep all day long. I was trying to get the house clean and did not want to stop to make her go down for a nap. Around 4:00 I went to get ready for Addi's ballgame. I put her in her walker so I could take a shower. When I got out of the shower she was being really quiet. So I peeked in the living room and this is how I found her....

I took the picture and then put her in her bed for a nice nap. (Sorry the last picture is going the wrong way. I forgot to change it before I put in on here and it will take to long to do again.)

Hope this doesn't bore you too bad....

This past week was a good week - nothing too exciting has been going on. Josh got the dishwasher put in and it is working great. It is so nice not to see dishes piled in the sink!

Friday night we went to eat at Chili's with Jared, Emily, & Casey. It was fun. Saturday we went to work on the group scrapbook. We started around 11 and I got home at 7:45. I fed Hannah, put on her pj's and put her to bed. She slept all night long. She was so worn out! After I put Hannah to bed I sat on the couch and watched Coyote Ugly. Today, of course was church. Josh & I ate lunch at Golden Wok. After church tonight we went to KFC to eat with Kim, Addi, Susan, David, Emily, Jared, Marty, & Susan. Josh & I ate and ran. Now we are home, Josh & Hannah are in bed and I am getting ready to go to sleep myself. Just thought I would hop on here and let you know how our weekend went.

Like I said nothing too exciting going on. We are just getting ready for the Lads to Leaders Convention which is coming up VERY soon (see my countdown!). I always look forward to going every year. I have been going since I was 8. I did miss a few years when I was in college, but I love it! This will be Hannah's first year and I cannot wait to see her face when she sees all of the waterfalls. She has had a fascination with running water lately. When I run her bathwater, her eyes get big and she stares at the water. If I try to move away from it, she will about break her neck trying to see it. It is another cute thing that she is doing right now!

Congrats Mark & Shana!

Here are the pictures from Mark & Shana's wedding. Everything was beautiful! The pictures of Mark's truck are funny to me. It was good to get a little "revenge" from the birdseed incident at our wedding. We had a lot of fun. I got to visit with Brandi Saturday night. It is always like old times when we are together. I miss her!

Sunday night our Lads to Leaders group went to West Concord to conduct their services. The girls did their speeches & songs for the ladies an hour before worship began. It was a great opportunity for our young people to get a little practice before Nashville (which is coming up in a few weeks). I am going to be honest. I never did speech or song leading in Nashville. I was always too chicken to do it. I admire those who are not afraid or won't let their fear keep them from doing these activities. They did a great job!
Yesterday Hannah, Amy, Emily, Clay, & I went to do a little shopping. Then we picked Bradley up from school and came to my house to make cookies. While the cookies were baking, we went outside to fly a kite. The kite was a Dollar Tree kite. We could never get it up the air for long, but Clay had fun running around with it. It was a great day. Hannah was so exhausted!
My kitchen is torn to pieces right now because Josh is putting in a dishwasher for me!!!! YIPPEEE!!! My life is about to become a little more easier. I didn't mind not having a dishwasher until I had to wash bottles. It takes me 2 hours to hand wash all of Hannah's bottles and dishes from our dinner. So I am happy that I will not have to hand wash for much longer! Speaking of cleaning - I need to go get some stuff done before Hannah gets up from her nap! Happy Tuesday!

Check-Up

Hannah went for her 6 month check-up today. She weighed 17 lbs, 1 oz and was 27 3/4 inches long. She is in the 67th percentile for weight and 90th for height. She had more shots today - you can see the band-aid in the picture. She has been in a good mood. Of course, I am pumping her full of Tylenol for the next 24 hours.
This weekend is Josh's Aunt Marie's wedding. She is 82. David, Susan, & MaMaw left today for VA. I wish we could go but Josh doesn't have the time off. Plus, Josh is in Mark & Shana's wedding. I am so excited for them! Shana's dress is gorgeous and I know she will be beautiful. I hope it is a pretty day.
I am also excited that Grey's Anatomy will be a new episode tonight. I didn't watch the first two seasons because it came on Sunday night. I would watch the end of it when we got home from church and eating out. So I was following it, but I had missed several things that were important. Pam bought Season 1 and let me borrow it. Then I rented all of Season 2. The first three weeks of Hannah's life we watched all the episodes of Season 1 and 2. Now I am all caught up and loving the show! Also, Survivor is new tonight and there is a new show I want to watch called October Road. I guess Thursday night will be my night of television. I know I watch too much tv, but I am also following American Idol. I like Malinda and Gina.
Well it is time to cook dinner. It is chicken casserole night. I better hurry so I can watch all of my shows.

Spring Fever

We have had beautiful weather this week! I have spring fever and hope it doesn't turn cold again. I have been in short sleeves and have been dressing Hannah in her summer attire (with a sweater and a blanket nearby just in case). Yesterday Amy, Kim, & I went to Jasper to a consignment shop called Henrietta's Closet. They are only there until this Saturday. I bought Hannah a dress and Emily got a dress, but for the most part the place was over priced. I don't think you should buy something used that you can find new for the same price. Anyway, after we left the store, we went to the park and let the kids play. They had a good time and it was nice to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather. Hannah got to swing for the first time. Today Kim & I took Hannah, Addi, and Levi to the zoo. It was a lot of fun. It has been a long time since I have been to the zoo. It is nicer now. They have a kids park and several other additions. Hannah rode in the stroller but ended up in the "Snugli." She had a good time. The zoo was another "first" for her.

She has decided this week that she is not going to sleep. She has gotten up several times in the night. Last night was better, but it is like she is a newborn again. I think she may be cutting a tooth or it could be from the sedation medicine. This morning I ended up giving her a pacifier to get her to calm down. She played with it for a while and then drifted off to sleep. I don't want her to start taking a pacifier, but I will do whatever it takes to "survive." :) She has been army crawling this week and can get anywhere she wants now. I guess you would call it scooting, so it won't be long before I am blogging about her crawling. She finally went down for a nap and so I am going to take a nap with her. We have a long weekend ahead and the time changes, so I will need the rest. Don't forget to "Spring forward" Saturday night.

Enjoy the pictures from the zoo!

Finally.....

The doctor finally called me this afternoon and let us know that everything is fine with Hannah. He said if she ever starts having leg weakness that they would check it again. So we are relieved!! I doubt she will ever have weakness in her legs. She exercises them enough! Thank you for your prayers!

Now is my time to get on my soap box! I hate Walmart. If they were not so cheap I would never go there again. I have had many bad experiences there, especially the one in Adamsville. Today I went (after giving up on the doctor to call me. I figured they could leave a message) and I had a huge grocery bill. I hadn't been to the store in about a month, so we were out of EVERYTHING. I get through the check out line and the debit card machine was not working right. So I told the cashier that I could pay with a check. A few months ago I tried to write a check and it was rejected because there was an error. Somehow my drivers license # ended up on a bad check - a teller's mistake. Anyway, I thought it had been taken care of, but apparently it has not. It rejected my check. So, I told the cashier that she would have to get the debit card to work because I was not leaving the groceries. (I had to do that the last time and I was not going to do that again!) I had been to the bank right before I came in there and I knew there was money in the account. Anyway, she got the debit card to work. Now I need to call Walmart to find out what is going on. I will do that tomorrow.

Then as I am leaving the man at the door stops me to see my receipt because I have toilet paper and paper towels not in a bag. I will let you know that this is a pet peeve of mine. I know people steal, but seriously do you have to check my receipt! I have stood in line and spent a lot of money to be treated like a criminal! It is frustrating and I was in a bad mood after not hearing from the doctor this morning and then the check episode. So, I looked at the man and say "If I had stolen this don't you think the alarm would have gone off?" He said, "Not necessarily." Would someone please tell me why they have them? He said "we aren't checking you but we are checking to make sure the cashier didn't miss anything." He gave me my receipt and I went on my way. However, I really wanted to ask him if the items weren't on my receipt would he have called security since it would be a cashier's mistake. It just rubbed me the wrong way. I have seen people walk out with stuff you could tell they had stolen and no one bothered to stop them. I know it is sad that they have so much crime that they have to treat everyone like a criminal, but I am a paying customer. Anyway, I will get off my soap box. I am in a better mood now! :0)

Update

I will admit that I was dreading today. Hannah had specific instructions of what she could eat and how long before the MRI. She could not have formula or baby food after 4 am and only juice from 4-7. Then nothing after 7 this morning. I was dreading it because she really likes her breakfast. I set my alarm to wake up at 3 am to feed her one more time to fill that little belly as full as I could. I woke her up and she ate almost a whole jar of applesauce. She was so pleasant. How many babies are grinning at you when you wake them up in the middle of the night? She took her bottle and went back to sleep and then we were up again at 6:00 to drink as much juice as I could squeeze in her little body. She rolled around in my bed and drifted back to sleep long enough for me to get a shower. Then I put her in her walker, finished get ready, and gave her a bath. I figured a bath would occupy for a while. She likes to splash her legs around in the water.

Anyway, we had to be at Children's Hospital at 10:00. They were great and did not make us wait long. She got fussy in the car and I was thinking - Oh great, here we go? Now is my time to brag. I try not to brag about Hannah too much, but she is so sweet. Once we got out of the car, she did not fuss or scream. She was sitting, taking everything in, smiling and flirting with everyone who walked into the room. She had not eaten in 4 hours and she was the happiest baby. They only had to give her the smallest dose to get her to sleep. She fell right to sleep. They hooked her up to a monitor to check her oxygen level. She was sleeping with her head back a little and got strangled. She started coughing and gagging. I looked at the oxygen level and it went down from 100 to 90. I was so scared! Mom got up and opened the door to find the nurse. However, as soon as she quit coughing it shot back up to 100. I was a little shaken - literally shaking! After that everything was fine. She woke up and took a little bit of juice. She woke up around 1:30 and was ready to play. She drank a lot of milk and is now sleeping. I am so glad that the sedation part is over and I know that she is okay. Now I am just waiting on the results. I switched doctors and I have a feeling they are not as good as Dr. Edward's nurse, Melissa. She would have already told me the results. Oh well, I guess Melissa spoiled us. I should know in the morning - No, I will know in the morning. So I will post her results as soon as I hear from the doctor.

Wow, I have typed a lot! One more thing I failed to mention in my previous post - CONGRATS to Brian and Tina Maddox! They are expecting a baby at the end of July/first of August. I am excited that Hannah, Addi, Levi, and baby Kelsey will have another friend to play with at church!

One more item - please pray for my sister-in-law Jan's dad. He has Parkinson's disease and he is not doing good. Kyle & Jan drove to Kentucky last night. So please say a prayer for him today!

I should have explained :)

Based on the comments, I guess people didn't know that Hannah was having an MRI. Sorry I didn't explain in my last post. She is having a MRI because she was born with a sacral dimple at the end of her spine. She had an ultrasound at 3 months but it came back a little suspicious. So the doctor wants her to have an MRI to make sure that the end of her spine closes. It is common to have a sacral dimple but they just want to make sure that her spine is okay. It is obvious that she is not having any growth problems from it, but it can cause other problems. We are getting it checked out to make sure. Hopefully we will know something tomorrow! Keep her in your prayers!

A Long Week...

So much has happened since I last posted. Our gospel meeting started and went great. The only problem is the stomach virus that has been spreading around church. Even the visiting preacher got it and couldn't preach one night of the meeting. Hannah got sick on Wednesday, but seemed to bounce right back. I am not sure if she had the virus or not. Saturday I spent the day in bed sick with a "mini" version of the virus. I am thankful that I didn't have the full blown version of it! Pam & I Lysoled (if that is a word) every pew yesterday at church. We are hoping we have seen the end of it!!!

Thursday we had the tornado warnings and spent most of the afternoon and night at the church building. I will admit I was nervous. Emily took our picture while we were watching the local Fox 6 News. Susan emailed it to the website and they showed our picture on the news. We missed it because we were driving home from the church building. We did not have any damage, but the people in Enterprise, AL were not so lucky. We should remember them in our prayers and try to help any way that we can. I can't imagine what they are going through. I heard on the news this morning that more people attended church services yesterday. Interesting!

Friday I took Hannah to CRC to see all the people I worked with before she came along. We stayed there all day. It was so good to see everyone. Of course, Hannah put on a show - laughing and grinning at everyone.

Tomorrow Hannah has to have her MRI. I am dreading it a little bit. I am nervous about her being sedated more than anything. Please keep her in your prayers tonight and tomorrow. I will let you know what the doctor says as soon as I know!
