Lads to Leaders & Easter

This weekend was the Lads to Leaders Convention in Nashville. I have been looking forward to it since last year's convention. Our kids did a great job, as they always do! Hannah was fascinated by the waterfalls. If I wanted her to sit in her stroller, I would just ask her if she wanted to see the water. It worked a majority of the time. I didn't buy a harness for her and she did good. She only ran off twice and we caught her before she got too far. One time she made a beeline for the stage to see Granna.

The Easter bunny visited Hannah. She loved her basket. She kept saying "look daddy, look!" (That is her new favorite thing to say - "look!" If you do not look at what she wants she will repeat it louder and louder until you do.)

Thanks to all who left me comments on how get Hannah to take the medicine. She only has two more days to take it. The medicine was flavored but I think it is the thickness of it that makes her gag. I have been basically holding her down, squirting it in the side of her cheek, and then holding her nose if she will not swallow. We get it all over us but hopefully enough is going in to clear up the infection. It is not as dramatic as it was a week ago but she still hates it. When she sees the medicine dropper she starts to run away from me. We go next Monday to have the doctor re-check her ear. Hopefully it will be cleared up and we will not have to deal with the medicine anymore!

Sick baby...

My sweet baby is sick! No, it isn't serious or the end of the world but when your baby is sick it seems that way sometimes. She has been running a low grade fever off and on since Thursday. Since it would go down with Tylenol I assumed it was her teeth. She started coughing on Friday. So, I start thinking it is just a cold or virus. She was still running around like she felt fine. Yesterday morning she didn't have a fever all day. We went to the church building to finish up the scrapbook. She seemed fine but was very sleepy. She took a nap and when she woke up around 5:30 she had a fever again. We missed Mary's transplant party. What is a transplant party you may ask? In case you don't read the other blogs on my list, Josh's aunt Mary needs a liver transplant. So she cannot be more than 45 minutes away from home. Therefore she will miss our trip to Nashville. So Susan and Becky put together a party for her so we could stock her up on all the things she will need while recovering. I was upset we missed it. Josh was turkey hunting and he was too far away to make it back in time. (Mary I know you know we wish we could have been there. I bet your face was priceless! We love you!)

Anyway, her cough was a little worse than before but nothing alarming. Then around 2:00 am I hear the sound all mother's dread - gagging. Poor thing, she had coughed so much it made her sick. So, I run in there and get her. She is burning up with fever - 103. I want to call my mom but Josh talked me out of it. I think it is funny that at 28 years old I still want to call my mom when something isn't right! We give her more Tylenol and a good bath. She started feeling a little better and loved the fact that I was letting her drink from a real cup! We got an appointment for their after hours clinic. I gave Hannah another bath and this time she was screaming. She screamed the whole time we got ready and almost the whole way to the doctor until she finally fell asleep. I was in the back seat trying not to cry! It is hard to see her so pitiful. She has an ear infection. I am thankful it is an ear infection that can be cleared up with an antibiotic (By the way, Publix gives Amoxicillin (sp?) for free! That is another reason I love Publix! - Thanks Tina for letting me know!) So, hopefully she will be all better by Thursday!

Hannah loves the 80's too...

I got so tickled at Hannah on Monday when she walked into the living room wearing her gown, a head band she put on herself, and my fuzzy blue socks. The socks looked like leg warmers. She would fit in perfectly if it was 1985! Although I hear the 80's fashion is coming back. That is one trend I will be staying away from!!

One more thing...

I got caught up talking about Bible bowl, I forgot to tell you a cute story about Hannah. If Hannah gets up before I do. I will go into the bathroom before I get her out of bed. I have to pass her room on the way so she usually cries before I get to her. So, I will say "Hold on Hannah, I am coming." One day last week, she saw me pass her room and I hear her saying "Holl on, you comin'." SO CUTE!!

LOL! She just came in here and handed me a jar of fruit and a spoon. She said "poon." Then she said "Ope it." (which means Open it) :0) She makes my day!

The Bible bowl practice went well Friday night. I will have to say that the kids at our church are wonderful people and enjoyable to be around. Their parents are doing a GREAT job raising them! Hannah looks up to them already and they are great examples to her!

When we woke up Saturday morning there was snow on the ground. Now usually I am excited about snow but I am already in Spring mode. I am tired of cold weather! So I was not excited about the snow. Josh & I took the opportunity to study for Bible bowl. Then it was off to the church building to scrapbook. We scrapbooked all day! I got home around 6:00. (We are making progress and only have a few sections left and of course the cover.) When I got home I started cooking for the fellowship meal Sunday. The picture above is of Hannah right after her bath Saturday night. She is brushing her teeth. She loves to brush her teeth and wash her hands!

Our meeting started on Sunday. I didn't get to hear the Bible class because I teach the Cradle Roll class but Clark Sims did a GREAT job Sunday morning and night! I am excited about the rest of the week. After services, we all scarfed down our food and off to Bible bowl we went. Sylvan Springs did a GREAT job! Our team - Josh, Brian Maddox, and myself - missed 6 questions on the written test. It wasn't the best but I think we did a great job. We made it through one buzzer round, but Marty Glenn's finger was faster than ours in the second round. Oh well, at least we didn't embarrass ourselves! I liked doing Bible bowl again. It brought back a lot of memories - like winning 1st place in Nashville with Chad Yielding, Destry Pounds, and my brother, Kyle. That was a great time! I remember how excited we were. Josh said something about doing the Walker county adult Bible bowl. I think it would be fun - what do you think Sylvan Springers?

100th Post

That's right folks this is my 100th post! I will have to blog by bullets since it has been a week and a lot has happened...

Friday (the 29th) - We went with Shana & Mark to Petrucelli's. They had never been before and Josh & I went on and on about how good it was. Well we had a weird waiter and the food was not as good as before. I was disappointed. Hannah screamed the whole time! I am sure Mark & Shana will never have children after going with us. Shana started feeling sick on the way home. So it was interesting night! We did have fun with them despite all the craziness!

Saturday - Josh & I went to see Josh's MaMaw Courington. She is not doing good. Some of you may not read my mother-in-law & sister-in-law's blogs but they have mentioned that she needs our prayers. It is sad to see her in that state! She talked to us for a while and then went back to sleep. She smiled when we talked about Hannah. I know she would like to see her. Hannah stayed with my mom due to the fact that it is flu season at the hospital. I don't want to take any chances with her. Please pray for MaMaw & PaPaw Courington. After we visited her, I went to pick up Hannah & stayed at mom's for a while. Hannah put on a show for us! She has become a little entertainer - just like her cousins Emily & Addi!

Sunday - After church we scrap booked until time for church again. After evening services, we stayed to label the postcards to send out for our meeting that begins this Sunday. Then we ate sausage, pancakes, & french toast. YUMMY!! Thanks Kent & Mary! After we ate I picked up Hannah & she felt warm. So I took her to Susan & Kim to see if I was right. They both agreed that she felt warm. When we got home she was running 102 fever. So I gave her some Tylenol and she went to bed. I checked her again in the night and it was 100.

Monday - We stayed around the house. Hannah had a fever all day but nothing else was bothering her. I am thinking it was her teeth. She has several back teeth coming in.

Tuesday - We had Bayley. Hannah's didn't run any fever! YEA - I am so glad that I didn't have to call the doctor. The gas company knocked on my door and handed me a card that said they were turning off my gas because I didn't pay the bill. I about had a heart attack! They finally got it cleared up. They had written the wrong house number on the card.

Wednesday - Bayley was here and we had a normal day. If there is such a thing as normal with two babies around!

Today - Kim kept Hannah for me and I ran several errands. THANK YOU, KIM. We are having Bible Bowl practice at our house tomorrow night and I went to buy groceries to feed everyone! Sunday we are having an area wide Bible bowl and the adults are participating. I am excited about it. I have been studying hard but I don't retain things like I did before. Although, I have definitely benefited from this study! I just want the kids to know that they should be excited about studying the Bible! It is more important than school, sports, friends, etc.! If we let our kids know that we enjoy studying the Bible then maybe they will learn from us. It is a goal I am trying to achieve with Hannah. On that note, I better go. Hannah is in bed and I need to get my study time in before I fall asleep.
