Hannah's First Christmas

Here are some pictures of our Christmas. We had a great Christmas. Of course, this was Hannah's first Christmas. We had a very busy weekend! Saturday we went to my MaMaw Wilson's for lunch and then to my parents for dinner. Sunday morning we went to church and then went to our evening service at 1:30. After church we went to Josh's Aunt Patsy's for dinner. Monday morning we opened our gifts from Santa at our house. Then spent the day at Billy & Mary's. Santa was very good to Hannah! Not only was Santa good to Hannah but everyone we know was good to Hannah. She is going to be a well-dressed, entertained little girl. I wish all children were loved as much as Hannah. This world would be a much happier place if they were! Josh bought a necklace for me. It is so beautiful and I was very surprised!

We spent today day resting from the weekend. Unfortunately, Josh had to go back to work. I wish he could actually have some time off but his job does not allow for that much time off since they do not work on Monday. Hannah slept until 9:15 this morning. I think Christmas just wore her out. We are not completely through with Christmas. We are going my PaPaw & MaMaw Shadix's house on Saturday. Then the Christmas season will officially be over and it will be time to ring in the new year.

Happy Birthday to me...

This is our new directory picture. Well, it is not the exact picture that is going in the directory but it was one that Daryl & Becky took for us. We had to update the directory to include Hannah-bug.

Today is my 27th birthday. I do not feel like I am 27 years old. Sometimes I feel like I am just a kid and to some, I guess I am. I have had a good birthday so far. We celebrated with Josh's family last night. Yesterday was my father-in-law, David's birthday (Happy Birthday, David). We went to the nursing home to see Papaw Courington then went to David & Susan's to eat steak. Dinner was so good! Thanks again for all the presents. Today my sister & I went to Jasper to do the last minute Christmas shopping. (I am officially finished with my Christmas shopping. My checkbook thanks me, but I am always sad when I am through because I love it so much.) I have had many birthday wishes from my family & friends today. To make the day even better, we are going to Chili's to eat tonight! Oh yeah, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Jared! (We share the exact same birthday)

10. (a) 4 (b) 2 (c) 3 (d) 5 (e) 6 (f) 1

Now add up the total number of points.

OVER 60 POINTS: Others see you as someone they should "handle with care."You're seen as vain, self-centered, and who is extremely dominant. Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don't always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you.

51 TO 60 POINTS: Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality; a natural leader, who's quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome, someone who will try anything once; someone who takes chances and enjoys an adventure.. They enjoy being in your company because of the excitement you radiate.

41 TO 50 POINTS: Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding; someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out.

31 TO 40 POINTS: Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken.

21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then, usually decide against it. They think this reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.

UNDER 21 POINTS: People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions & who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as a worrier who always sees problems that don't exist. Some people think you're boring. Only those who know you well know that you aren't.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

Since my last post, there has been so much that has happened. Our dear friend, Lila Mae Hand passed away. We are all very sad that we will not see her in this life anymore but we will see her again one day in Heaven. I had not known her as long as the rest of the Courington family. However, since the day I met her she had always treated me like she did the rest of the family. She will be missed!
Hannah has started trying baby food. Last week were carrots and this week green beans. I have a hard time feeding her the green beans. They look really gross, but she seems to love them. She is getting big so fast! She has found her voice and has been "oohing & aahing." It is the sweetest sound. She flirts with everyone she sees. I have a hard time getting through Walmart these days because she wants to stop to talk to people.
My sister, Amy, and I took Hannah and her cousins, Emily and Clay, to see Santa at Brookwood Village. This is her first Christmas and although she has no idea what Christmas is, I have had a lot of fun this year. Christmas is my favorite time of the year anyway, but Hannah makes it even more special! She smiled so sweet for the picture with Santa (as you can see). She has enjoyed staring at the lights on our tree. I think she is going to love Christmas as much as I do.
Our holiday parties have already started. We were very busy this past weekend. Friday night we threw our friends, Mark & Shana a tool & holiday decoration party. They are getting married in March. There were over 30 people in our little house but we had a lot of fun. Saturday was the 6th grade & under party for the kids at church. Hannah slept through most of it but she seemed to have fun. She got her favorite thing in the world from Levi & Granna - formula and baby food. Granna also monogrammed her two blankets for Christmas. They are so cute. Aunt Kim gave her a toy that she loves. She loves to eat it. Everytime she sees it she smiles the biggest smile, grabs it, and puts it into her mouth. Sunday night was our young adult class party. We ate (a lot - as always) and played dirty Santa. Tonight will be the church Christmas party at Nikki's. I am glad that Hannah is a girl that likes to be on the go! She better be because our schedule is full for the next three weeks.

Bad Luck???

A few weeks ago my sister-in-law, Kim posted a blog about the string of "bad luck" she had encountered. She must have passed it along to me & Josh because it seems like not much is going our way these days. First of all Josh's work checked bounced. Yes, bounced. I was thinking that AmeriPride was going bankrupt but after talking to our bank it turns out that in processing the check it had been torn. So instead of calling us, the bank pushed it through as a bounced check. That was finally straightened out and then I had a wreck. It was the other person's fault but her insurance company is not going to pay. They are saying I contributed to the accident because I was going to turn but changed my mind. Now I changed my mind about 2 car lengths from the turn and when she hit me my blinker was not on but somehow I am still being blamed. So now that is going to Subrogation between the insurance companies so Progressive (her insurance company) will fix my car. That isn't settled yet but hopefully will be soon. Then yesterday I went to Walmart to get a few groceries and after being in the store about an hour. I went to check out. All I had was a check because I was waiting on my new Debit card in the mail. The check would not go through. So I had to leave all of the stuff that I had attempted to purchase in the store and walk out like a criminal. I was so embarrassed!! I called the number they gave me and after getting the run-around someone was finally able to help me. Apparently a cashier made a mistake and put my driver's license number on another person's check. I got all of that straightened out this afternoon. I actually had to go to Walmart Customer service to have them visually identify that it was not me that had written the bad check. What a mess!!!! I really don't believe in "bad luck." If I was trying to convince someone that there is no such thing as bad luck, I could not convince them based on the last month of my life. I know that things could be so much worse, but that is what is going on with me.

In happier news, Thanksgiving was a great day - as I had expected. The day after Thanksgiving my mom, my sister, my aunt, and I left the kids with their dads/Papa's and went shopping. We had a great day and got some great deals. I am now ready for Christmas!! I have started decorating but we will get our tree this weekend. I am SO EXCITED. Christmas is my favorite time of the year. It is also a very busy time but I think that is why I like it so much. Goodness, it is very late and tomorrow morning is ladies Bible class. I hope everyone is having a great week!

Happy Thanksgiving!

In just a few short hours, it will be Thanksgiving day. It is hard to believe that the holidays are already here! This will be Hannah's first Thanksgiving. We should always be thankful to God for all our blessings, however Thanksgiving is a time to reflect and to be extra thankful! I am thankful that God is in control of my life, that He created me, sent His only Son to die for me and I am His child! I am also thankful for Josh. God has blessed me with such a great leader for our family. With God as the focus of our marriage, we have a great life together. No, it is not perfect but we are happy. I am also thankful for Hannah. She is such a sweet baby! She smiles at me and it melts my heart. I am thankful that she was born healthy. I was feeding her before she went to bed tonight and I thought I am so thankful that we live in America. We have food, clothing, & shelter. I thought about all of the moms who have to watch their babies suffer from hunger and I can't imagine their pain! I am thankful that I do not have to worry about those things and I pray for those who do. There are many more things that I am thankful for and do not have the time to list them, but I will add that I am thankful for all of my family and friends. Everyone of you have been a great support & encouragement to me. I love you all and thank God for you. Thanksgiving Day usually brings out the emotional side of me, but I think it is good for me to think about all of the blessings God has given me. It puts me on the right track and makes me a better Christian!
I am excited about tomorrow. After I feed Hannah her breakfast, I am going to make a mad dash to the store to get a newspaper. I will have to map out my shopping plan for Friday (I am so excited!!!) while I watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Then, we are going to my PaPaw & MaMaw Shadix's house to eat lunch, then we will go to David & Susan's (Josh's parents) for dinner. I am looking forward to having a great day! I hope you have one too - Happy Thanksgiving!

My First Post

I am not sure what made me decide to join the blogging world, but here I am starting my own blog. I chose "Hannah's Mommy" as my blog name for several reasons. One reason is that I am not that creative and I didn't want to sit for a long period of time racking my brain trying to decide on a good name. The main reason I chose the name is because since my sweet little Hannah was born into this world people pay so much attention to her that they often
"forget" about me. As soon as we walk into a room everyone begins to talk to Hannah and then later say hello to me. If Hannah is not there I am immediatley asked, "Where is Hannah?" So instead of being Katie, I am now Hannah's mommy. I think this happens to all of us who are parents. I don't know about you but I love my new title! It makes me proud to say that I am Hannah's mommy. Hannah has brought more joy to me than I could ever imagine and I will love being Hannah's mommy for as long as I live!

Today was the Auburn and Alabama game - the biggest game of the season! Hannah and I went to Billy and Mary's to watch the game. Auburn won!! I predicted the score to be 24-0 (Auburn on top), however the score was 22-15! WARRRRRR EAGLE, HEY!!!! It was a great game! The fear of the thumb was made reality today! Josh decided to take advantage of the first day of gun season and go deer hunting. He killed the first one of this season. It was a doe. Now for those of you who know me, I really can't stand anything about deer hunting. I grew up with a dad and brothers who were obsessed and vowed that I would never marry a deer hunter. Well, never say never! I have to be a good wife and pretend to be interested. However, I am happy that he killed one since it makes him so happy. I knew the honeymoon was over when he replaced our wedding picture as the background of our computer with a picture of him and our nephew, Clay holding a deer he killed. He is lucky I am not offended by much! It made me laugh.

I guess that is all for my first post. Hannah is sound asleep in her bed and I am about to crawl into bed myself. Good night & WAR EAGLE!!!
