Are You Ready For Some Football??!!!

As I type, I am at David & Susan's house. We still do not have Internet (very frustrating - don't know what the problem is but I am not liking it at all!) and we came to their house to watch the LSU vs. MS State game. I can't believe football season is here. It is so hot outside it doesn't seem like it should be that time of year, but I am EXCITED about this football season. This Saturday is Auburn's first game. I can't wait. We will be watching at my parent's house while doing a pre-celebration of Labor Day. It is the only day we can all get together. All I have to say is WAR EAGLE!

Hannah has become very good at walking - almost running. She is even standing up without having to pull herself up on something. She has cut one of her front teeth and the other one will be coming in any day now. She also has not had a bottle in two days and has been drinking real milk! YEAH!!! NO MORE FORMULA!!! We feel like we got a raise! Sunday we moved her into the "big girl" car seat. She went to the doctor on Friday and weighed 20 lbs, 11 oz. She was 31 1/4 inch long. She was 50% of weight and 97% in height. Her head circumference was also above average - which means she is a smart girl. I already knew that but it is good to have a doctor confirm how brilliant your child is! :0) Wow, she is becoming a big girl right before my eyes.

We are having our pictures made tomorrow. We have never had a family picture made - isn't that crazy? Earlier today Hannah was walking around the kitchen. I went to get some hangers out of the closet, came in the living room, heard some paper rattling, and as soon as I rounded the corner to check on her I saw the camera fall into the floor. Hannah started screaming and I thought it just scared her, but after looking at her face it smacked her right on her cheek-bone. She has a nice little black eye just in time for the pictures. :( Poor Baby! Well I have rambled on enough. I am going to watch a little football!

Computer Issues

We are having internet problems. Whenever we try to connect the internet it tells us that there is not a dial tone, but our phone is working. We are not sure what is causing the problem, but I am ready to have a computer at home again. I am at the church as we speak and Josh is at home with Hannah.

Anyway, I just wanted to hop on here and read everyone's blogs. I have been having withdrawals! :0) I want to post some pictures from Hannah's big day but I didn't put them on a cd before I came. So I will have to post them later. She had a great birthday. She turned very mischievous on me that day! Kim told her Wed. night she could do anything she wanted on her birthday and I think Hannah understood what she said. Here are eight things she did on her birthday...

1. She got up at 3:00 in the morning and was ready to play. She played until 5:30 and FINALLY went back to sleep. Although she would not sleep in her bed. Every time I put her down she would scream. So, she sleep on me until 8:30.

2. She ate a fly. Well, really just the wing. I found it before she ate the whole thing.

3. She got a special delivery by FedEx. The toy box Granna & Gramps bought her came that day. I will post some pictures when I get a chance of her opening the box.

4. She got one hand in the toilet before I stopped her and splashed it all over herself. One of her favorite things to do these days.

5. She peeled a piece of wood including paint off the closet door in the computer room.

6. We met Granna, Gramps, and Mamaw Courington for dinner at Dale's.

7. She went to Build-A-Bear and made a very cute puppy named Cuddles. She loves to hug her and has been dragging her around everywhere. Thanks Billy & Mary for the gift card! Stayed tuned for pictures at Build-A-Bear!

8. She stayed up until a little after 10:00. I guess she wanted to make it until 10:27 pm, which was the time she was born. She almost made it but finally gave it up!

Well, I hope everyone has a great day! I better get home to finish dinner!

Happy Birthday, Hannah!

Hannah is one year old today! I can't believe it. It seems like yesterday that I was as big as a cow waiting on her to get here. Now she is walking, cutting teeth, and saying Mama, DaDa, & Bye. Wow! What a difference a year makes!

Since I did not have a blog last year, I will fill you in on how the day went. I got up and decided that I was tired of being pregnant and was going to "walk" until I went into labor. I also needed to get some things that we would need when we got home from the hospital. So I went to Dollar Tree, Big Lots, and Walmart. I walked around for a good 3 hours. Big as a house, feet swollen, and hot as could be, but I was determined. After I left Walmart, I started having random contractions. I came home, ate lunch, and went to my doctor's appointment.

My doctor told me that I had not made much progress. She told me to go home, take it easy, and if nothing happened by the next week, she would induce me. I was still having random contractions.

Anyhoo, I was disappointed because I was really hoping that she would keep me. So I call everyone and tell them it is going to be a while. Then went home to watch Dr. Phil. My contractions were starting to hurt a little and they were coming more often. I laid on the couch to watch Dr. Phil and decided maybe I should time the contractions. However, I kept loosing track of when I had the last one. As I was about to get up to get some paper to write it down, my water broke. I called Josh, the doctor, and my mom. I put all of the stuff in the car and waited on Josh to get home to get me.

After waiting on the doctor for 20 minutes, he finally came in and said "yes your water broke." DUH!! I could have told you that. Anyway, he admitted me and the rest is history. Sweet little Hannah was born into this world at 10:27 pm, weighing 8 lbs, 4 oz, and was 21 inches long. The moment they put that crying angel on my chest, my life changed forever. She has been such a joy to our lives. This has been a great year. I have enjoyed watching her grow and feel so blessed that I can stay at home with her. If I was working outside the home, I would have missed so much of her first year of life and no amount of money is worth the precious moments that we have together. So, Happy Birthday to my sweet Hannah bug! I hope you have many, many more happy years of life! I LOVE YOU!

Birthday Party

I wanted to blog last week but our phone was out from Wed - Sat night. Apparently some idiots decided to steal all of the copper from the phone lines. So we were out of phone service for 3 days. I almost had blog withdrawals. That is one of the downfalls to dial-up. Oh well, I am back and still addicted.

Hannah's 1st birthday is on Thursday. We had her party on Saturday at the park in Gardendale. She had a great Sesame Street (mainly Elmo) birthday party! We ate hot dogs and just enjoyed being outside. The yellow jackets were a little annoying and made us nervous but we had a great time. Hannah LOVED her cake. She had it up her nose, in her ears, all over her hair. She enjoyed herself. She also got lots of presents. She has played with all of her toys and I can't wait to dress her in the cute outfits everyone got her. She got a new Auburn outfit. She will be sporting that new outfit on September 1st! Hannah is such a loved little girl. I hope she always knows how much everyone in her life loves her. I got lots of pictures of her eating the cake but I didn't get any of her opening her presents. I had to help her and Josh was video taping the whole thing. Mary took the pictures of her opening the presents on her camera. So for now, enjoy the cake pictures! You can see how much she loved it. Maybe I will get some pictures of her opening her presents later and post them. Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Saturday we went to Josh's friend David's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding. When they left the reception they released doves. I hope you can see it in this picture. I had never seen this done before and I thought it was a great idea. Looks a little different than the 5,000 pounds of bird seed that was dumped on our heads as we left our wedding. This was definitely a better picture moment! LOL! Melissa's dress was gorgeous. I love weddings.

Sunday we took this picture before we left for church. Hannah was not smiling because she figured out something was on her head and she didn't like it. She didn't make it to church with the headband!

Sunday afternoon I was reading the paper. Hannah loves paper. I think she is part goat. I gave her the Direct TV ad that was in the paper. (We aren't going to get cable any time soon so why do I need the ad!) She was playing in the floor and she had crawled into her BeBe Pod and there she was "reading" the newspaper. Of course, by the time I got the camera she was looking at me but I still thought this was funny. She has learned how to climb onto things now. Sunday night I was cooking dinner. I made sure she was far enough away from the stove to take my casserole out of the oven. By the time I turned around she was almost to the seat in her high chair!! It scared me to death! She got a little pop for that. Oh my, she is a MESS!

In other news, I am very thankful today! My little brother, Kyle was in a serious car accident last night, but he is okay. He is a paramedic and was driving the ambulance (not transporting anyone thank goodness!) A car swerved into their lane and hit them head on - flipping the ambulance a few times. He is really sore but his seat belt saved him. His partner is okay too. There is a reason for seat belts! They saved his life last night!

Something to think about...

This was an email that my aunt Carla sent to me. I thought it was worth sharing. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING

A message every adult should read, because children are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking,I learned most of lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking,I looked at you and wanted to say, "Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking."

As promised...

We had a good time going to Decatur on Sunday morning. I love visiting my grandparents. They are so funny to me! I also got to see Aunt Sandra but Shannon was sick. :( They will be able to come to Hannah's birthday party and I am happy.

This week should be uneventful. So my blog may be a little boring. Clay spent the night with us last night and he is spending the day with us today. Hannah was so excited when Clay got out of bed this morning. I think she forgot he was here last night before she went to bed.

Anyway, I just wanted to post the pictures like I promised.

Edit: **I knew that when I was typing "this week should be uneventful" that I was setting myself up for trouble. As soon as I hit "post" Clay called my name. He went to the bathroom and was trying to wash his hands. Hannah figured out he was in there and the door was opened (it is always shut these days). So, I go to find out what Clay needs and there is Hannah splashing in the toilet water! Thankfully, Clay had already flushed. Well maybe this week will be eventful after all! LOL!

A little bit of everything...

I shouldn't neglect my blog for a week because when I do I have so much to say that I end up leaving stuff out. I have been using my "internet time" to find a cabin in Gatlinburg and smocked outfits for Lila & Hannah. Where to begin...

Not long after I posted my last blog, Hannah was crawling around the house like she always does. I usually have one eye on her but she crawled into the kitchen and she got quiet. That is not a good sign because it usually means that something is going into her mouth or she has her hands on something she is not supposed to be touching. I walked into the kitchen and she was trying to lick juice off of the floor. Her cup had leaked out a puddle of juice and there she was lapping it up like a dog. I couldn't help but laugh. It was gross but the image of her trying to lick it off the floor was funny! I would love to know what goes on in her mind.

Tuesday night we had a devo at David & Susan's house. The girls met at 5:30 to swim. Hannah LOVES the pool. She splashes and kicks. She loves to have water splashed in her face. She had the best time especially with the older girls in the pool with her.

Thursday and Friday I went shopping. Like I said earlier, I have been on a hunt for Lila a smocked outfit/dress. I just haven't found the perfect one. Well I did find the perfect outfit but they only had a 3 month size and it was a summer outfit. The sales lady tried to convince me that it stays warm in October but I tried to tell her that by the time Lila was 3 months it would be January. Oh well! I did find some GREAT deals and on Friday it was tax free. Macy's had all of their Carter's outfits for $3. I was really excited about that.

Last night we had girl's night out at Pam's. We ate a lot (shocking I know - Sylvan Springs people hardly ever eat together :0) and talked a lot (even more shocking). I didn't get home until 1:30 am, which was really stupid because Hannah had us up at 6:30. I am tired today but managed to get all of the floors mopped and several loads of laundry done. Josh cut the grass and we have been home all day. That is unusual for both of us to be home all day long together. It was nice.

Hannah had her first bleeding accident today. She fell on the laundry basket, bruised her chin and her gums bled a little. It wasn't that big of a deal, meaning she didn't need stitches or anything but I know it hurt her. Which made me hurt and sad for her. She does still have a little bruise on her chin. I know this will be first of many!

Tomorrow we are going to visit my Papaw & Mamaw Shadix in Decatur. So if you miss us at church Sunday morning that is where we will be. I am excited about seeing them and hopefully will get to see Sandra & Shannon too.

I have some cute pictures but will have to post them later. Stay tuned...
