Fish Face

These pictures are from Friday night. We spent Friday night at home. We were sitting around the table and Hannah was being extra silly so we finally got a picture of the fish face. I told you it was cute!

Saturday, we went to Glencoe Church of Christ for their Back to School family rally. I enjoyed it a lot. Plus, we got to see Daniel & Mandi! Yay! We don't get to see them enough. We left the youth day, then Josh, Casey, Hannah, & I went to look at lawnmowers. Josh & Mark are going to buy a new one soon for their side job. After we left there, we went down to the river to watch the drag boat racing. It was so much fun. Those boats can go over 200 miles an hour. They were very loud and some of them scared Hannah. Some were so loud it would shake your body as they rode by. We decided next year to actually pay to get in and not just find a parking lot to watch from. We left there and went to Academy. I was wearing down at this point but managed to muster up enough strength to buy some new tennis shoes. Do you know that I have not had a new pair of tennis shoes since college? That is a long time! We ate at Top of the River and finally got home at 9:00. Then it was time for me to cook for the fellowship meal on Sunday. I made a cake and of course it stuck to the top of the pan. I was so frustrated! It was after 11:00 before I got in bed. Then I was up early to find something else to make and finish my other stuff. I had to leave in the middle of services because Hannah wet through her diaper into my lap. So I flew home and changed clothes and made it back just in time to take the Lord's Supper. It was a crazy morning!

Sunday was a special treat. I actually got to take a nap. I slept for an hour then made myself get up to clean the living room. Hannah took a 2 hour nap and probably would have slept longer except I vacuumed the living room and it woke her up. Josh spoke Sunday night so he worked on his lesson after his long nap. He did a GREAT job speaking! I was very impressed and proud of him. Who could ask for a better husband? We topped the weekend off by going over to Pam's house for dinner Sunday night. Her new house is so cute! I liked it a lot. We crashed when we got home. Hannah slept until almost 8:00 this morning. We are going to spend the day being lazy.

We have had an average week. Hannah & I have bought groceries and have done a little shopping every day this week. I have just been in the mood to be out and about. Last Friday night I went to see Hairspray. I loved it! It is my new favorite movie. I want the soundtrack and the movie. I would love to go see it again but can't stand to pay another $8 to see it again. Maybe when it comes to the dollar movie I will go then. Monday night I took Hannah to VBS at Sixth Ave. We both had a good time. Plus it was nice to get to hear a whole lesson without having to wrestle her down. Tonight was the devo at Billy & Mary's. Paul did a great job with the lesson and the fellowship was great as it always is.

Hannah has grown so much this week. She is hilarious to me. She has discovered how to make a fish face and it is the cutest thing you have ever seen. I have been trying to snag a pic but she won't do it when the camera is out. She has also given up on baby food. When I put it to her mouth she gags and spits. She is ready for the real stuff now. Just another sign that my baby is growing up!

Well I know this is not an exciting post, but I am not a very exciting person - sorry! :0) Hope I didn't put you to sleep but I just felt like I needed to blog today! Happy Friday!

A little fun

After Hannah had a bath yesterday, I spiked her hair up and had fun taking pictures of my blue-eyed beauty. She loves to be in just her diaper.

Why?

I keep asking myself this question today. I am so sad and heartbroken for Chad, Teale, Marcie, Chuck, Crystal, Nathan, & every one affected by the tragedy of loosing little Kendall. It seems so unfair to me that so many people can have babies that they do not want or abort them for no reason other than they are selfish. Then wonderful, Christian people like Chad & Teale loose a baby that they wanted and loved more than they love themselves! I don't understand and maybe I am not supposed to! I just am having trouble today. I know that God is in control and that He will take care of them. Last night in our Bible class we were talking about Christian friends. Today I thought about Chad. Chad & I were once the best of friends. Chad & I lost touch and would only see each other occasionally. However, he would be there for me if something like this happened to me and I hope he & Teale know that I am there for them if they need me. Isn't it amazing how close Christ brings us together? We are brothers and sisters! Even though we may loose touch and our lives go in different paths, you always have a friend - a brother or sister - to call on when tough times come. That is comforting to me. I think about all the people that surrounded us when Ginger was in the hospital and even now people still care! Thank you to all my brothers and sisters in Christ! I love each one of you and hope you know you can call on me if you need me! Let's remember the Yielding family in our prayers! We love all of you!

Let's also remember the Nabors family!

(Sorry for being so deep today! I just have so much on my mind)

Here Comes Trouble ;0)

Hannah took her first steps yesterday! She still has a little trouble with balance but she will take a few steps before falling down. I got the camera out just in time to catch a few shots of her walking. It was a great incentive for her because she wanted the camera. I love the one where she is stopping to clap for herself. She was so proud but so were her mommy & daddy! Running will be next! Say a prayer for me! :0)

Excuse the Mess!

I am trying to pretty up my blog but I am having trouble getting it exactly how I want it. I can't find a template I am in love with and I am trying to play around with it. Please excuse the mess. It may take me a while!

Pictures

We have a plastic bed rail guard that should keep Hannah from chewing on the wood. There are four plastic pieces that slide onto the rail. However, Hannah has figured out how to get them off. So now every time I get her out of bed she has one or more in her hand. Oh well!

Last Tuesday, Amy & I took Emily, Clay, & Hannah to the zoo. We had a great time. Clay asked me if he looked "cool" after we took this picture. He is such a mess!

The goose wanted Clay to hurry up with his food, so he was going to help him along by biting him. I had the camera ready just in time. :0)

BEAUTIFUL BLUE-EYED HANNAH!

Amy with all of the kids by the tiger. The tiger is behind the glass but Emily & I were still nervous. It was cool though to be that close to it. I kept thinking if this thing growls or paws at us I am going to wet my pants!

100 Things About Me...

Okay, I hope none of you jump off a bridge anytime soon because I am likely to follow. :0) Here is my list. It has taken me a few days. Mainly because it is not easy writing a list and trying to keep Hannah from eating the carpet. Yes, I fished carpet out of Hannah's mouth today! Anyway, Here goes..

1. My favorite place to be is in Josh's arms. It makes me feel that all is right with the world & I am safe.

2. I love to hear Hannah laugh.

3. I listen to Hannah talk to herself at least 15 minutes before I get her out of bed. It is so sweet!

4. How do people who do not believe in God make it through life? I depend on Him for everything.

5. My goal for my family is to make it to Heaven.

6. I love to rock Hannah to sleep.

7. I get excited when Josh calls me and tells me he is on his way home from work!

8. I have had my heart broken twice.

9. I can't listen to "Skin" by Rascal Flatts without crying like a baby.

10. I am TERRIFIED of roaches, mice, snakes, the dark, and tight spaces.

11. I love 80's music! Hair bands are the best!

12. I like to dance to rap music - only in the privacy of my home and jam sessions with the girls (which I miss by the way).

13. I miss my friends - Brandi, Jessica, & Stacey! :( I wish they lived closer and we got to talk more.

14. I also miss Ginger! Sometimes her wreck does not seem real to me.

15. I have a hard time letting go of control. If I am in charge of something it is hard for me to give some of the responsibility to someone else even if I am overwhelmed.

16. I LOVE to shop. I am an impulsive buyer but I have learned to control myself.

17. I love gift registries. As soon as I get an invitation (and sometimes even if I don't get an invite) to a shower/tea I look at the registry to see what is on there. I love buying gifts!

18. I talk to my mom & sister every day or every other day. We spend hours talking about nothing but I love it.

19. I need to talk to my dad & brothers more often!

20. Josh makes me laugh a lot. One of the many reasons I love him.

21. I love my family - blood & in-laws!

22. I don't enjoy talking on the phone.

23. I like to take pictures and feel that I have to scrapbook all of them.

24. I loved growing up with a sister and 2 brothers. I love each of them and the spouses they married.

25. I volunteered at the Rape Crisis Center in Birmingham for a year. I liked helping but it was hard on me emotionally. It was very rewarding and I hope to be able to do it again in the future.

26. I believe God works in our lives today but I don't believe in miracles.

27. I like to sleep when it is raining.

28. I didn't think labor was that bad. (after the medicine kicked in :0)

29. I have always wanted to name my daughter Hannah after Samuel's mother. She is a great example of a Godly mother.

30. I hope & pray that I teach my children everything they need to know to face the world with confidence.

31. Pet peeves: slow drivers in the fast lane, fast drivers in the slow lane, children not in a seat belt, children wandering through a parking lot without a hand to hold.

32. I think ignorant people are going to ruin our country.

33. I am tired of celebrities with the arrogance that normal every day people care about what they think!

34. I didn't get my license until I was 18. I did not have a desire to drive. Brandi did all the driving for me.

35. When I was a kid I was super shy! I cried every day in Kindergarten.

36. My best friend Brandi brought me out of my shell and helped me to learn how to loosen up.

37. I still hate to get in trouble.

38. I have never drank a sip of alcohol even though I have been tempted. I am proud of myself!

39. I talk too much!!!

40. I learned that trying to make a boy jealous only makes you look stupid - I want Hannah to know that before she tries.

41. I want to have 1 or 2 more children. If we have a boy next I am probably done. If it is a girl, I would like to try for a boy. We will see.

42. I have baby fever already but then reality slaps me in the face! :) I want Hannah to be at least 3 or 4 years old!

43. I love to eat chocolate!

44. I love Hannah so much! It makes me wonder how God gave His Son for me. I was so unworthy!

45. I hate to see young girls (& old ones too) thinking the only way to get a guy's attention is by throwing themselves on them or dressing & acting inappropriately. Just be yourself girls!

46. I don't believe in fate.

47. I had a lot of fun in college!

48. I was a member of Alpha Delta Psi. Pledge week was terrible at the time but I made it through just fine.

49. I think a woman can let her husband be the head of the house (like God wants) without being mistreated or loosing her identity.

50. I appreciate that my husband works so hard for our family!

51. I am not a good house keeper. The dishes and laundry are usually done, but everything else is a mess. I am trying to be better. Need to clean right now - living room looks like Toys R' Us exploded!

52. I love to get flowers. Tulips are my favorite!

53. I believe that a good, moral family is the foundation for a great life.

54. I feel sorry for children who don't have parents that care about them.

55. I am NOT an animal person.

56. I like to sing but wish I could really make a "joyful noise" to everyone and not just God. :0)

57. I love Auburn football! If it is not on TV then I listen to it on the radio.

58. My dad is the best daddy on the planet. I, like Leah, still think my daddy can do anything. I love his sense of humor and his love for his family! I get my stubbornness and big mouth from him :0)

59. I wish I had my PaPaw Shadix's courage to teach the Gospel to everyone I meet.

60. I appreciate that my mom stayed home with us when we were little. I still call my mom for advice and recipes.

61. I think being a wife & mommy is the greatest job a woman can do.

62. I love to entertain people in our home.

63. I can't think of one thing I have given up to be a stay at home mom. Nothing was important to remember.

64. I love my brothers and sisters in Christ at Sylvan Springs. Each one is dear to my heart.

65. When I am uncomfortable I usually say something inappropriate. If someone is crying I try to make a joke to keep myself from crying. It is stupid, but I do it anyway. Then later kick myself for being such a dork.

66. I like to cook but hate to clean up the mess.

67. My wedding day was PERFECT! I wish I could live the day over again.

68. I went to the same school from K-12th grade.

69. I like to look through old houses. It is interesting to me to see how people lived.

70. I love my nieces and nephews. I can't wait to meet my niece, Lila. I will also be excited to meet Kyle & Jan's & Daniel & Mandi's future children.

71. I love holidays. Christmas is my favorite!

72. I love the color red.

73. I had my tonsils removed but little ones have grown back.

74. I have had stitches twice - in the back of my head and in my bottom lip.

75. I loved being pregnant!

76. I like to get dressed up and go out to eat.

77. I miss playing outside like I did when I was a kid - rolling down the terraces in the pasture and building tree houses with not a care in the world.

78. I have seen every episode of Friends & Grey's Anatomy.

79. I like to carve pumpkins - in college Michelle & I carved enough pumpkins to line our porch with them.

80. Jessica & I used to run then go to Krispi Kreme for a doughnut. One time we went to the grocery store and bought ice cream & every banana split topping you could imagine!

81. I want to visit New York City & Hawaii one day.

82. I love staying at home with Hannah. I would be sad if I missed all the things I get to experience with her everyday.

83. I can't stand whining and I am NOT ready for Hannah to get into that phase.

84. I will not ride a roller coaster.

85. I would like to start my own business but have no idea what I would do.

86. I love my new furniture!

87. I don't like the dentist.

88. I have had one panic attack and it was in a dentist chair.

89. The beach or the mountains are both great to me.

90. Josh is 1 year and 9 months younger than me.

91. Josh & I already had a date set before we were officially engaged.

92. My uncle Steve saved my life when I was a baby. I was choking and I was already blue.

93. My cousin Ashley died when she was 9 years old and I wonder what she would be like today if she were alive.

94. I miss my Papaw Wilson! I do have a few memories of him but wish I got to know him better.

95. I hate for people to watch me while I am doing something.

100. I love my life and feel so blessed by all of my experiences and the people that have touched my life.

I enjoyed doing this! Thanks for the idea everybody!

More pictures for you to enjoy. I am not sure why I can't put a title on my posts. It won't let me in the box to type. Computers can be so frustrating!! Does anyone have an idea as to why I can't put a title on here??
Hannah's first book from the imagination library came yesterday. It was The Little Engine That Could. She liked looking at the book. I love how she is pointing to everything lately.

Here is a picture of our new chaise. This has become my favorite seat in the house!

Playing "Peek-A-Boo"

Hannah had her first experience with a biter biscuit yesterday. I hate that they are called that. It makes it sounds like something you give a dog. It is basically a big cookie. She loved it and went straight to the bathtub after she ate this one. I have a better picture of her but don't have time to post it. We are going to the zoo today. So I am sure we will have more pictures tomorrow.

"Rubbing my tongue on my gums feels good!"

"Mommy is SO funny!"

"I am loosing my pants!"

I know you can't see her face but she is into pointing lately and I thought this one was cute!

This has become Hannah's favorite toy. It is the loudest one - Ha! Thank you Sandra, Mike, & Shannon!

I L-O-V-E this picture! She is laughing so hard!

Once again, loosing her pants while tackling Elmo. She is so funny!

These pictures where taken during one of the afternoon storms we had a few weeks ago. The power was out so I took the time to take some pictures of Hannah playing! These pj pants were a little too big so they kept falling off.

We had a great week. We spent the 4th of July at David & Susan's house. I ate all day long! We were going to go downtown for Thunder on the Mountain (the fireworks show they have at Red Mountain in B'ham) but everyone was tired or didn't feel very good. We ended up shooting a few at David & Susan's house. When Josh & I left their house, we ended up parking close to our house and watching the fireworks downtown. You could see them good from where we were. We got to see the tail-end of the show.

I am in clean-out mode at my house. I planned a yard sale on Saturday but it was rained out. I didn't complain because there is still some stuff I need to go through and we needed the rain! If it is not raining, we are having the yard sale this Saturday. The advantage to having a small house is that you cannot be a pack rat. I have a new philosophy - if we don't use it or need it in the future, I am getting rid of it! I am still holding on to my too small clothes, hoping I will get to my pre-pregnancy weight! We will see how that goes. I am not on an official diet because that will make me eat everything I see. However, I am going to start exercising today and cutting back on sweets, especially Dr. Pepper!

Heart Failure!

Is there a humane cage you can buy for your children? I need one! This morning Hannah & I went to Walmart. I bought her some cute pj's. I forgot that I had washed some of her clothes which had been in the washer too long and needed to be washed again. Hannah was in the kitchen holding her pacifier (she has been chewing on this pacifier for two days - I am wondering if I should take it away or just let her have it. What do you think?) and pulling out the Diet Mountain Dew cans out of the box. I walked out to the washer, threw the pj's in, put the soap in, and turned it on. That took all of about 1 minute or less. When I came back in the kitchen Hannah was chewing on something. I ran over there and stuck my finger in her mouth. Guess what came out? Dish washing detergent!!! (Last night when I was unloading the dishwasher I noticed a clump of detergent didn't run through the cycle. So, I got a paper towel and wiped it up. It must have fallen out of the paper towel on the way to the trash can. I had no idea that it was even in the floor!) I opened the child proofed cabinet to get the box of detergent. It says if ingested call Poison Control immediately! Luckily I had written the number down on my board in the kitchen. I call and they tell me the main concern is a chemical burn in her mouth. Now I have to make sure she is eating and drinking okay. I also am supposed to be watching for excessive drooling but since that happens all the time I don't know how I can tell by that! The lady said since it had already ran through the cycle it was probably okay. Plus, I got most of it out of her mouth before she swallowed it all. I think everything is okay except I may have had a small heart attack! She has eaten a few puffs and is now sitting in her walker watching Teletubbies. She may just have to learn to like her walker and play pen because she is too fast!

WOW...

Once again we had a very busy weekend! This is how it all went down...

FRIDAY: Adam had plans with some friends from college for his birthday and I kept Clay for him. He is such a sweet boy! He really likes Hannah and is wonderful entertainment for her. Mom came over to pick up Clay and they ate dinner with us. Mom ended up taking Hannah home with her and Josh & I stayed up until 1:00 in the morning painting our living room! It only took two coats of paint to cover the green. I was very excited about that.

SATURDAY: I got up and met Mom at Adamsville's VBS. It was an all day Bible School. Hannah & I both enjoyed it. Hannah had to be moved one seat away from the other kids because she kept taking their pacifiers and making them cry! I guess she is going to be one of those kids! :0) Not really, we will teach her not to take stuff that doesn't belong to her. After VBS we came home and I attempted to clean house. Hannah did not want to take a nap. I had to clean the house with her hanging on my leg. I was trying to vacuum the base boards in the living room. When I say she was hanging on my leg, I mean she was literally holding onto my leg as I was dragging her and the vacuum cleaner around the living room. She thought it was funny for a little bit and then began to scream at me. Josh finally got home around 8:30. We were sitting around in the living room and got a wild hair to go to Target where I had scoped out the entertainment center that I wanted. (What would the new couch and chaise look like with an old desk in the room with it?) We got home from Target around 9:30. Josh began to put it together and I went to clean the house. We stayed up until 1:00 putting the entertainment center together and cleaning. As soon as my head hit the pillow, Hannah started crying. I ended up going to sleep around 2:30! It has been a VERY long time since I stayed awake that late. I am getting old. :0)

SUNDAY: We went to church. Paul & Kim treated us to Chinese for lunch, our favorite! Thank you Paul & Kim! It was GOOD! We were having a party for Adam after church Sunday night (the reason for all the cleaning). After lunch, I went back to cleaning and Josh went to get our new furniture. Mark went with him and it came a flood on their way home. The couch got a little wet but no damage was done. We got finished with the cleaning and re-arranging just in time for church. We left church came straight home and had the party. We had fun. Everyone was gone by 9:30. Most people left around 8:30. It was different for me because when we have Sylvan Springs people over, we have to kick them out of our house before they will leave. :0) As soon as everyone left, we both crashed! We were so tired but our living room is BEAUTIFUL! I am so happy about it. I need to take a picture and post it on here but I am having camera issues right now. You will just have to take my word for it!

MONDAY: Poor Josh had to work today so he can be off on Wednesday! He never gets a day off unless he uses vacation days or is sick. That is a downfall to his job. Hannah & I have had a lazy day. She is taking her second nap as I type. I took her outside this morning and put her in the grass. She crawled around picking up leaves and sticks. She would giggle when she would find something. She tried to eat a few leaves but luckily she never swallowed any of them! She had a great time. I guess she is going to love the outdoors just like her daddy!
